As part of the project Narratives, Manifestations and Impacts of the Anti-Gender Movement in Croatia, the Centre for Women’s Studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka has provided an institutional subscription to the online journal Dissent, a respected American left-wing publication featuring work on political theory, identity and culture.
All articles in the journal, not only those that are open access, can now be accessed by anyone using an IP address belonging to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, including those connected to the Faculty’s wireless network (Wi-Fi). The subscription also allows users to register and create a personal profile, although this is not required to access the journal’s content.
The journal can be accessed via the Project MUSE database. Institutional access to the journal was arranged by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Library and is also the Library’s first institutional subscription to a digital journal.
Dissent (University of Pennsylvania Press) is a respected American left-wing journal publishing work on political theory, identity and culture, in which authors critically examine social rights and contemporary social perspectives. The journal was founded in New York in 1954 by a group of prominent intellectuals, and its tradition of intellectual engagement grounded in critical debate remains one of its defining characteristics today.
